Research at IRISA is structured into:
Scientific departments covering the entire spectrum of computer science, from computer and network architecture to artificial intelligence, software engineering, distributed systems and virtual reality.
Transversal themes that highlight and respond to major societal issues, which intrinsically carry strong potential for innovation. The idea of transversal themes is twofold: (a) foster synergy and critical mass on specific topics with active collaboration between teams in possibly separated departments; (b) emphasize application domains in which IRISA is actively involved with critical mass.
