From 29 to 31 January, we welcomed 13 secondary school pupils to give them an insight into the world of IT research.

Over the course of the three days, our researchers took time to welcome Liam, Come, Alwena, William, Basile, Alban, Alois, Pierre, Jules, Amélia, Camille, Tytouan and Violette, who had come to IRISA and the Inria centre at the University of Rennes to complete their work placement.
These young people, who came from secondary schools in towns such as Plélan-le-Grand, Bruz, Broons, Chartres-de-Bretagne, Rennes, Pacé, Cesson-Sévigné and Paris, had the opportunity to meet our scientists and find out more about the job of a computer researcher.
Computing is an extremely rich and diverse field, so this course focused on Artificial Intelligence, a subject that is both exciting and topical for the schoolchildren. Here's an overview of the activities they took part in:
- Presentation of artificial intelligence by the Lacodam research team
- Introduction to the Inria Start-up scheme, with presentations by start-ups
- Introduction to virtual reality with the Seamless research team
- Raising awareness of stereotypes and prejudices relating to the role of women in computing
- Discuss security issues with the High Security Laboratory
- Discover AI, code and programming with the Diverse research team
- Demonstrations of drones and the robotics platform with the Rainbow research team
- Role-playing game on the theme of AI and health
- Finally, the students ended their course with a 3-minute pitch exercise.
The three-day event was a great success, thanks to the contributions of Paul Viallard, Cyrielle Mallart-Vanwychen, Julien Mellet, Elsa Denichou, Alexandre Sanchez, Mathieu Acher, Fabien Spindler, Gianluca Corsini, Paolo Robuffo Giordano and Thomas Maugey.
