International at IRISA: Mission and activities
The IRISA international relations team’s core mission is to build, promote and enhance international cooperation in ICT. Indeed, international relations are intended to promote collaboration with the best international researchers, research teams, laboratories, and academic partners in our field, through a high level of quality science.
IRISA’s goal is to boost its international profile and recruit quality foreign scientists.
Main activities:
- Encouraging and developing international cooperation and partnership agreements
- Coordinate and organize the international mobility of researchers, teacher-researchers, and doctoral students.
- Support and accompany the constitution and management of international exchange programs
- Advise and help Irisa's scientific project leaders in the preparation of submission files.
IRISA's IR unit regularly disseminates programs promoting its foreign exchange policy. These programs are funded by IRISA's partners: Université Rennes 1, CNRS, ENS Rennes, INSA Rennes, as well as by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, counterpart ministries in foreign countries and other organizations such as Inria.
This policy of developing international actions has enabled IRISA to strengthen its training through research activities. 41% of doctoral students are foreign nationals (in 2018) . Theses in cotutelle have increased in recent years. IRISA is unquestionably an intercultural place for the exchange of scientific knowledge.
Its targeted and long-lasting partnerships of excellence, as well as participation in prestigious European and international networks, contribute to promote an active policy of cooperation in direct liaison with the services of IRISA's partners.
