Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Marc Snir is also Director of the Mathematics and Computer Science Division at the Argonne National Laboratory. He brought important contributions to the IBM SP scalable parallel system and to the IBM Blue Gene system and was one of the main contributors to the design of the Message Passing Interface (MPI). He is currently pursuing research on parallel computing with a focus on HPC and exascale computing.
