Research interests
- signal processing for Music Information Retrieval (MIR),
- computational musicology,
- musical signal and data analysis, processing and creation with Bayesian statistical methods.
Currently, in the METISS team, I am working on musicological language models of music based on harmony theory and applied to MIR tasks, such as multiple frequency estimation, audio and symbolic harmony analysis ("chord recognition").
Educational background
April 2007–March 2011, The University of Tokyo, Ph.D. cource in statistical music signal analysis at the Department of Information Physics and Computing at the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology. My research involves using a variety of probabilistic tools, such as Dynamic Bayesian Networks to analyse and process musical information and signals.
October 2006–March 2007, The University of Tokyo, Research student in musical signal analysis at the Department of Information Physics and Computing at the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology.
October 2001–July 2006, Gdańsk University of Technology, 5-year M.Sc. course at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunication and Informatics. Majored in automatic control and robotics. Minored in digital audio and video signal processing, real-time operating microsystems and biosignal processing. Individual Program of Studies (available only for students with high grade point average) during the last 2 years.
September 1996–June 2001, Nicolaus Copernicus 1st Upper-secondary school in Gdańsk A class with extended courses in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science and English.
